If you’ve just discovered a Termite Nest, don’t panic & don’t disturb the area.  If the Termites have been exposed try to cover the area up again.  Get on the phone and call 1300 PestControl and leave our experts to do the rest.

Australian Standards in relation to Termite Control requires that when Termites are found that attemps are carried out to destroy the entire colony, so a thorough Termite Inspection is required to try to locate the nest or nests.

Depending on the outcome of the inspection our Pest Controller will treat accordingly.

If all Termite Nests are found, the treatments can be applied directly. However, generally Termite Treatment requires a combination of methods including Contaminant Dusts and Aggregation or Termite Baiting Stations so that the Termite Treatment is able to pass from the worker termites to the rest of the Temite Colony.

Remedial Termite Treatments can then be applied for Protection from any future Termite Infestations.

Disturbance is the major cause of Termite Treatment failure.  The below tips will help when Termites have been discovered.

Found Termites - DON’T PANIC!  Minimize any disturbance because disruption causes termites to stop working in this area and may make Termite Treatment more difficult.

STOP what you were doing when you found termites.  Try to conceal the location of the termites with cardboard, tape, foil, anything to minimize the light and air-flow into the area.  Then leave the area alone or you will only chase the termites to another area where they will start to create more damage.

Do not use insecticides and sprays on the Termites.

If some Termites have been displaced, try collecting these for faster analysis of the species.

Call 1300 PEST CONTROL for immediate assistance and an appraisal of your situation.
